Canada’s first microgravity research competition for students returns for it's fifth year.

As always, we're working with the National Research Council to host another CAN-RGX competition.

The COVID-19 pandemic has resulted in disruptions to competition and program schedules throughout 2020. As a result SEDS-Canada has decided to run a smaller campaign in 2020-21 (CAN-RGX IV.5) alongside the delayed 2019-2020 campaign (CAN-RGX IV); this smaller campaign will accept two new teams (instead of four; hence the cheeky name “CAN-RGX IV.5”) to fly their experiments on board the Falcon 20.

Any student team at a Canadian university or college can submit a proposal for their experiment, after which, up to 2 new teams will be selected to fully design, build and fly their experiments. Two members of each team will fly with their experiments on board the Falcon-20 which simulates microgravity conditions by flying in consecutive parabolas.

Help the Canadian Space Agency demonstrate its high-altitude balloon launch capability!

We're working with the Canadian Space Agency to provide students the opportunity to fly individual payloads onboard smaller gondolas. Students would be able to gain experience in flight operations and recovery while working closely with CSA employees.
The Flight Campaign for the 2019-2020 CAN-SBX competition (CAN-SBX III) has been delayed to July 2021. As a result, SEDS-Canada has opened another application window for interested teams to join the CAN-SBX III competition; up to two additional teams may be selected to join the already selected two teams to launch their payloads to the stratosphere in July 2021!
Students from selected teams will attend the 2021 launch campaign, which will occur at the Canadian Space Agency headquarters in Quebec. The launch campaign will involve students in launch operations and payload recovery, so that students will be experienced enough to tangibly lead balloon launches from their home institutions.
